The GEL-Resolution 2 received an 8.4 score out of a possible 10, and earned near-perfect marks for both stability and arch support. The shoes were also scored on cushioning, weight, ventilation, break-in time and overall satisfaction.

The magazine described the style as: "the ultimate shoe for an advanced player with sore feet and those who appreciate comfort right out of the box since the shoe has virtually no break-in time."

The article also points out the shoe has "outstanding support" with features including the Biomorphic Fit® Upper and Personal Heel Fit (PHF®) that helps mold to the athlete’s foot creating a personalized fit with snug heel support. The GEL-Resolution 2 has a Solyte® Midsole to enhance cushioning, a GEL® Cushioning System to attenuate shock during impact and toe-off phase and a PGuard™ Toe Protector for durability.

"We are thrilled with the #1 ranking," says Matt Donnelly, ASICS Product Manager for Team Sports.  "Fit and function are always our first priorities at ASICS and it’s great to be recognized for this."

The ASICS GEL-Resolution 2, which retails for $115, is available in two color ways (white/rain/sun and blue aster/black/lightning) for men and one color (white/cargo/abyss) for women.

In 1978, I had to have radical hip replacement surgery. When I was due to be discharged, the UCLA surgeon told me to buy a pair of shock absorbant shoes. That doing so would extend the time before I would need further surgery. I took his advise! I have been wearing Asic's ever since.

I have been wearing ASICS for 3 years now and gone through a lot of pairs.  I play tennis 4-5 times a week and jog (on concrete and use the Cumulus Smile.

Regarding the tennis shoes (far better than Nike, Lotto, or Adidas - at least as far as my personal experience and oppinion) I have been switching on and off between the Encourage and the Resolution I and more recently -  II.  Although both of them are great shoes, I still would like to comment that I believe that Asics's greatest shoe would really be a combination of these two models.  While the Resolution is lighter and has a springier feel in its sole - great advantages in tennis play, the Encourage is a perfect snug fit over the foot. I realise that they are made of two different materials (plastic / leather),but still I can feel the extra space in the top front of the Resolution.  It does not cuddle the top front of the foot.  I think that this "problem" can easily be addressed be the ASICS engineers to create a more snug feel in the front top of this optherwise excellent shoe.  Especially that they have managed to do this perfectly with the Encourage!!

Second comment (maybe less important for some) -in the economics department -  yes, Encourage's sole lasts considerably (at least twice) longer than the Resolution's .... Maybe something can be done in this aspect too to improve the Resolution ... I wish you success !
